Keeps Privacy Policy
- Keeps has no account and no server. Your records, attachments and Gallery stay on your device, encrypted.
- We, Goldencode Solutions, never receive, see or sell your information.
- On Android, Google's ML Kit text recognition sends Google limited technical diagnostics, which never include your records or images (see section 4).
- Backups are encrypted with a password you choose and go only where you send them.
1. Who we are
Keeps ("the app") is published by Goldencode Solutions, Santa Maria, Bulacan, Philippines ("we", "us"). This policy explains how the app handles information on Android and iOS. Questions? Contact us at [email protected].
2. Information you store in Keeps
Keeps is an offline organizer. Anything you enter stays on your device, including:
- Records and their fields: names, government ID numbers, contact details, addresses, dates, schedules and notes.
- Photos and PDFs you attach to records, and photos and videos you add to the Gallery.
- Your settings, plus a verifier derived from your PIN. The PIN itself is never stored.
This information is stored in an encrypted database and encrypted files inside the app's private storage. The encryption keys are held in your device's secure storage (Android Keystore or iOS Keychain). We have no copy of your information and no way to access it.
3. How the app protects it
- PIN lock. A six-digit PIN is required every time the app opens. You can also allow fingerprint or face unlock. Biometric checks are done by your device's operating system, and Keeps never receives your fingerprint or face data.
- Auto-lock. The app locks again after the period you choose.
- Screen privacy. On Android, screenshots and the recent-apps preview are blocked by default. You can change this in Settings.
- No cloud copies. The app's data is excluded from Android cloud backup, device-to-device transfer and iCloud backup.
- A forgotten PIN cannot be recovered. Because we hold no copy of your data or keys, the only way back in is to restore a backup.
4. Information that leaves your device
Google ML Kit (Android only). When you scan an ID or document to fill in a record, the text is read on your device by Google's ML Kit. Your images and the recognized text never leave the device. As Google documents, ML Kit sends Google the following for diagnostics and usage analytics, encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and not shared with third parties:
- Device information: manufacturer, model, OS version and available ML hardware.
- App information: package name and app version.
- A per-installation identifier that is not intended to identify you or your device.
- Technical details of each scan: performance (such as latency), image format and size, feature version, event type and error codes.
This data is handled under Google's Privacy Policy. On iOS, text recognition uses Apple's on-device Vision framework, and Keeps sends nothing.
Nothing else. Keeps has no ads, no analytics or tracking of our own, no account and no server. It uses a network connection only to stream your encrypted videos to the in-app player through a local connection (127.0.0.1) that never leaves the device.
5. Things you choose to share
- Backups. A backup is a single file encrypted with a password you set. You decide where it goes, such as a folder, a cloud drive or a message, through your device's share sheet. Once shared, it is handled under that service's privacy policy. Without your password, the file cannot be read.
- Opening details in other apps. Tapping a phone number, email address, web address or street address opens your phone, email, browser or maps app. That app's privacy policy applies.
- Copying. When you copy a field, it goes to your device's clipboard, where other apps may be able to read it.
6. Permissions
| Permission | Why Keeps asks for it |
|---|---|
| Camera | To photograph IDs and documents, and to take photos and videos for the Gallery. |
| Photos and videos | To bring items you choose into record attachments and the encrypted Gallery. If you choose Move, the app deletes the originals after confirming the encrypted copy, and your device asks you first. You can grant access to selected items only. |
| Microphone (iOS) | To record sound with videos you capture into the Gallery. |
| Fingerprint / Face ID | Optional biometric unlock, handled by the operating system. |
| Network access | For the local video player connection and, on Android, the ML Kit diagnostics described in section 4. |
You can withdraw a permission at any time in your device settings. Features that depend on it will stop working until you grant it again.
7. Keeping and deleting your information
Your information stays on your device until you delete it. Deleting a record, attachment or Gallery item removes it from the app. Uninstalling Keeps or clearing its storage permanently deletes everything, and it cannot be recovered without a backup. Backup files you made are not affected; delete them wherever you saved them. We hold no data about you, so there is nothing for us to delete. For the ML Kit diagnostics, which are not linked to your identity, see Google's Privacy Policy.
8. Children
Keeps is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 or the GDPR give you rights to access, correct and delete your personal data. In Keeps, you can do all of this yourself, because your data is only on your device. If you have a question or concern, contact us at [email protected].
10. Changes to this policy
If the way Keeps handles information changes, we will update this page and its effective date before the change reaches the app, and mention it in the release notes.
