In an encrypted database and encrypted files inside the app's private storage. The keys are held in Android Keystore or iOS Keychain, and app data is excluded from cloud backups.
Create a backup in Settings: a single file protected by a password you choose. Copy it to the new phone, install Keeps and restore it. The file is checked before anything is replaced.
